Waling's third-place ambition takes a hit after Biratnagar loss

Biratnagar Metropolitan City (BMC) defeated Waling Municipality Syangja 1-0 to climb to third on the table in the National Women's League on Monday.

The defeat has taken a hit on Waling's ambition to finish third on the table.

Asha Kumari scored from a free-kick in the 35th minute to earn the win for Biratnagar.

Biratnagar's coach Paras Chaudhary said they had played in a 4-4-2 format in today's game and it worked perfectly. "Change in format and the goal helped us. We now have to play well against Armed Police Force to finish strongly in the league," said Chaudhary.

Waling's coach Dilip Thapa said they could not play as they had planned for. "We missed scoring opportunities. We had more ball possession but could not score," said Thapa.

The win propels Biratnagar above Nepal Police Club (NPC) and Waling to third on the table with 16 points. Waling are third and have played one game more than NPC. Waling and NPC both have 14 points each but Waling are above NPC due to better head-to-head result.
