Tribhuvan Army up to second after comeback win against Sankata

Tribhuvan Army Football Club (TAFC) moved to second in the table after claiming an impressive 3-1 victory over Sankata Club in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Tuesday.

TAFC pegged back to Sankata in the 15th minute when Uttam Rai opened the scoring through a header. But TAFC bounced back in the second half through goals from Santosh Tamang, George Prince Karki and Tek Bahadur Budathoki in an impressive display of attacking football.

Tamang levelled in the 60th minute before Karki put the team ahead in the 74th. Budathoki sealed all three points for TAFC in the 86th minute to complete the comeback.

TAFC's head coach Nabin Neupane said they still face a tough battle for second place in the league. "We have the fate in our own hands but we have a tough last match against Manang Marsyangdi Club. I am happy that we have finally regained our pace and strength and hope to continue that in the last match," said Neupane.

Sankata's Bishnu Gurung said they played a good first half but could not withstand the severe pressure by their opponents. "Had we converted our chances in the first half, we could have shut them down. In second half, we could not handle the pressure and conceded goals," said Gurung.

TAFC jumped to second in the table with 22 points from 12 games while Sankata are seventh with 15 points.

The game also concluded the 12th round of matches of the league. The final round matches will be played from Thursday (February 24).
